WHAT ARE THE PRISM AWARDS?
The PRISM Awards recognize the finest projects and outstanding achievements of builders, developers, project owners, architects, land planners, marketing/advertising firms, interior designers, remodelers, and other professionals in the home building industry.
WHY SHOULD I ENTER THE PRISM AWARDS?
Winning a coveted PRISM Award is a sign of excellence in your field and recognition of superior achievement. Winners receive significant regional, state-wide and national recognition in newspapers, magazines and on websites. Even if you are not one of winners, entering allows you the opportunity to gain exposure for your company and projects.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO ENTER?
All professionals working in the building and remodeling industry are welcome to enter.
WHAT ARE THE ENTRY CRITERIA?
Projects typically must have been created or be active during a two-year period of time prior to the entry deadline. Each category description contains information about what the judges will be evaluating. Entrants will be required to submit photographs, a written statement about the project, team information, and other materials. Refer to the current year’s entry criteria for specific information.
WHAT IS THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT A PROJECT?
Entries for the PRISM Awards will be according to the deadline posted on the PRISM Entry Portal. The project must be active between June 2021 and June 2023 to be eligible.
CAN I ENTER MORE THAN ONE PROJECT IN A GIVEN CATEGORY?
Absolutely! There are no restrictions on the number of separate project entries an entrant may submit in a category.
CAN I ENTER THE SAME PROJECT IN MORE THAN ONE CATEGORY?
As long as all the specific criteria are satisfied, you may enter a project in any category you wish.
MY PROJECT FALLS INTO MULTIPLE CATEGORIES - WHICH DO I CHOOSE?
It is up to you! We suggest choosing the category that best represents your project, or that you would like to see on your award should you win. You can also submit the project more than once in different categories.
MY PROJECT WON AN AWARD IN ANOTHER AWARDS PROGRAM. CAN I STILL ENTER IT IN PRISM?
Absolutely! Refer to the current year’s entry criteria for specific information on eligibility.
CAN I RE-ENTER A PROJECT?
You may re-enter a project, as long as the project did not previously win a Gold PRISM award in that category, and if it meets the other entry criteria (such as the year the project was completed in).
I did not win a PRISM Award last year, so I would like to re-enter this year. What advice can you give about re-entering?
Make sure your entry is as strong and competitive as possible:
- Take another look at the category description to make sure you’ve addressed all of the requested criteria.
- Re-evaluate your photography to make sure that you’ve chosen the best shots to tell your entry’s story.
- Examine your marketing statement to ensure that it contains the detail necessary for the judges to understand the level of work put into the project and any challenges faced along the way.
- Take a look at the winners in that category last year to identify areas that you might wish to tighten up in your own entry.
WHO ARE THE JUDGES?
A panel consisting of industry professionals (builders, developers, interior designers, architects and sales and marketing professionals) from all over the country are carefully selected to participate as our judges.
WHAT IS THE JUDGING PROCESS?
Our panel of judges gather in-person over the course of 2-3 days to carefully review each entry and select the winners. In order to preserve the integrity of our judging process, we maintain a double-blind – the judges don’t know who the individual entrants are so they can objectively judge each entry on its own merit, and entrants do not have access to the information about the judges until after the judging is complete.
WHEN WILL THE WINNERS BE ANNOUNCED?
Information about winning entries is kept in the strictest of confidence until the night of our PRISM Awards Gala.
HOW MANY WINNERS ARE CHOSEN FOR EACH CATEGORY?
After each entry has been reviewed and discussed, judges will be asked to vote for Gold (first place) and Silver (second place) winners in each category. If the judges feel there is no clear Gold Award winner in a particular category, they will at least choose a Silver Award winner in that category. In the event of a tie in any of the categories, judges will be required to determine the winner based on the second round of discussion and voting.
WHAT DO THE AWARDS LOOK LIKE?
Though the look of the PRISM Awards may change periodically, they will always be of high-quality materials, engraved with information about the winners – something the winners will be proud to put on display.

WHAT IS THE PRISM AWARDS GALA?
We proudly refer to the PRISM Awards Gala as our industry’s version of the Academy Awards. It is a formal event, with delicious food, great entertainment, and a chance to surround yourself among top industry professionals from many different aspects of the building and remodeling industry.
WHEN ARE WHERE DOES THE PRISMS GALA TAKE PLACE?
The Gala typically takes place in October at a highly regarded venue in the greater Boston area. Refer to the current year’s gala for specific information.
